Dogs, horses and cats are the subjects dear to my heart. I have a long history with these animals through my jobs, studies, and fun time spent with them and people around them. I also enjoy painting landscapes on location, and painting anything in a company of other artists.
From a very early age I have had an interest in drawing. I grew up in the city of Odessa, Ukraine. In my teenage years I completed a 4-year study program at the Youth School of Fine Arts of the Odessa Grekov Art College. The school provides instruction in the fine arts for children and young adults and has been a long-time training ground for artists from the Southern Ukraine.
After graduating from high school I followed my passion for animals and took a job in Odessa Zoo. This led me to study veterinary medicine at the Odessa State Institute of Agriculture, and I graduated in 1994 with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Degree. While being a full time student, I supported myself through sales of my artwork in local galleries and private commissions.
After moving to the United States I was fortunate to become a full time mom for a couple of years. During this time I continued to pursue my art as a hobby, creating artwork for friends and family. I took art classes and sold some paintings in local galleries and shops. When it was time to go back to work I faced the challenge of finding a job with “mother’s hours” in the veterinary field, so I took a position in childcare instead.
Searching for a new medium for my art I took a course in computer graphics and had discovered an interest in how computers work. I spent the next several years studying computers in my free time. I have been working in the IT field for more than 5 years now and am still fascinated with technology.
